5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, successfully held in Ashgabat in September 2017, have catalyzed the development of many sports in the countries of Asia, the Middle East and Oceania. One of them is jiu-jitsu. A confident victory in Jiu-Jitsu at the Ashgabat Games of 2017 was taken by the Turkmen national team, winning 19 medals, including 7 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze medals. The second place belongs to the United Arab Emirates team, and the third place was won by athletes from Thailand. The eighth place was taken by Jordan, but many sports fans in this country now drew attention to this spectacular kind of martial arts. Welcoming this growing interest, the Jordan Olympic Committee hopes that the Jiu-Jitsu will become very popular and widespread in 2018. The Jiu-Jitsu Federation of the country stated that after the national championship, which starts on January 12th, men and women teams will be formed to participate in international competitions. Particular attention is paid to their preparation for the Asian Games of 2018, which will be held this summer in Indonesia - in the cities of Jakarta and Palembang.
