The Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) organized a technical assistance session in Ashgabat focusing on the development of standard operating procedures for phytosanitary and veterinary import control.

The event was attended by representatives from ministries and agencies responsible for the development and implementation of import control measures in Turkmenistan.

Participants discussed the adoption of modern methods and tools in the field of phytosanitary and veterinary control during the movement of goods and cargo across borders. EU experts, in collaboration with national specialists, worked on developing common standard operating procedures for inspectors to apply in practice when inspecting goods.

The session was organized within the framework of Component 3, "Facilitating legitimate trade flows across borders" which aims to further support the process of regional economic integration.
