Turkmenistan is increasing its influence within the Asian esports community
Recently, the inaugural elective General Assembly of the Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF) was held online. During the Assembly, the President of the National Electronic Sports Federation of Turkmenistan, Mekan Eyeberdiyev, was elected as a member of the AESF Board of Directors.
The Assembly was attended by the heads of national esports federations from Asian countries, as well as the Deputy Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), Mr. Vinod Tiwari, which underscores the high status of the event and the attention given to the development of esports at the continental level.
Furthermore, in February 2025, the Central Asian Esports Association, a new regional structure established to unite the efforts of the region's countries in the development of digital sports, was officially founded.
Following the elective General Assembly of the Association, Mr. Mekan Eyeberdiyev was elected as the Vice-President of the Central Asian Esports Association, and the Secretary General of the National Electronic Sports Federation of Turkmenistan, Mr. Nazar Odemuradov, was elected as the Secretary General of the Association.
These achievements reflect the recognition of Turkmenistan's role as an active participant in the international esports movement and open new avenues for cooperation, the exchange of experience, and the promotion of sports initiatives at regional and Asian levels.
