Journalists from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan are participating in a press tour organized by the Ministry of Information jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus. The event, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, will be held from 4 to 10 May, BELTA reports with reference to the Ministry of Information.

The acquaintance with the country began with a sightseeing tour of Minsk. The participants visited the National Library of Belarus, the First National Handle House shopping center, the Minsk Watch Plant OJSC, and other locations in the capital. The busy week-long tour program includes visits to city-forming enterprises, historical and cultural heritage sites, and places of military glory.

According to national sources, symbolic memorial complexes have been created and monuments dedicated to the events of this tragic and bloody war have been erected in different parts of Belarus, which lost every third resident in 1941-1945. Today, there are about 9,000 monuments and burial sites of the Great Patriotic War in the country, including its capital Minsk. They are part of military-historical routes and excursions, but most importantly, they are a sacred place of honor for the fallen, an eternal reminder of how priceless peace is.
