World Premiere in Ashgabat - choreographic and digital performance RITUALS
The global premiere in Ashgabat of the choreographic and digital performance "RITUALS" will take place through the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, the French Institute, and the Delegation of the European Union to Turkmenistan, alongside the Embassies of France and Italy, and the Goethe-Institut in Kazakhstan. This unique creative dialogue will see the rich traditions of Turkmenistan converge with contemporary European choreography and digital arts.
The choreographic and digital performance "RITUALS" featuring Jean-Marc Matos (choreographer, France), Margherita Bergamo (postmodern choreographer, Italy), the State Dance Ensemble of Turkmenistan, and the "Mengli" dance ensemble, will be held at the Mukam Palace in Ashgabat on Saturday, May 10th. The first part of the performance will feature a rendition of the traditional national dance Kushtdepdi by the "Akdjayar" folklore ensemble from the Balkan velayat, the acknowledged birthplace of this captivating Turkmen dance.
This project is being implemented within the framework of the "European Spaces for Culture" initiative, which experiments with and introduces innovative models of cultural cooperation between European actors – members of EUNIC and EU Delegations – and partners in non-EU countries, thereby realizing the EU's strategic approach to international cultural relations.
"European Spaces for Culture" is implemented by EUNIC in close collaboration with the European Commission and the European External Action Service. The realization of this project has been made possible through the support of EUNIC (the European Union National Institutes for Culture network, which brings together cultural institutes from all EU member states and some other countries), the Franco-German Cultural Fund, and the French Institute in Paris.
