A significant round table was held in Almaty within the "Z+1" format, launched in 2024 at the initiative of the leaders of Central Asian countries and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Organized by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany, this meeting served as a platform for discussing ways to enhance scientific-technical and educational cooperation between the region and Germany.

Turkmenistan was represented at the event by G. Akynyazova, an expert from the Academy of Sciences and Candidate of Economic Sciences, and M. Bugrayev, a lecturer from the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after D. Azadi. During the round table, delegates focused on the prospects for joint research projects, the identification of key areas of mutual interest, and the discussion of processes aimed at strengthening integration and active interaction in the fields of science and education. Participants also analyzed potential mechanisms for further cooperation and identified possible challenges in the implementation of the partnership.

The Turkmen side identified hydrogen energy, biotechnology, environmental protection, medicine, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare as the most promising areas for future collaboration with Germany. Turkmenistan's position regarding the necessity of institutionalizing scientific research cooperation within both bilateral and multilateral formats with Germany was clearly stated. Representatives of Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of implementing concrete, practically-oriented scientific start-ups, conducting joint research, and exchanging its results. According to the Turkmen side, the key role in stimulating innovation among scientists from Central Asia and Germany should belong to businesses, whose resources are capable of not only supporting the implementation of projects but also strengthening the link between science and production.

The meeting concluded with a general agreement among participants that for sustainable development, it is necessary to intensify joint applied and fundamental research closely linked to the real sector of the economy and contributing to the improvement of human capital quality in the region.
