Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov presented a report on the work to expand partnership with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) at a government meeting on Saturday, May 18.

As noted, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to interaction with international and regional structures, including the OSCE, with which the country cooperates in various areas.

As part of this partnership, a number of joint events are planned for the coming months:

• Participation in the session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly: The delegation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan will take part in the 32nd annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, which will be held from June 29 to July 3 in Porto (Portugal). At this forum, it is planned to organize an event dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality.

• Visit to the OSCE ODIHR: The Turkmen delegation will visit Warsaw (June 9) to meet with the leadership of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), get acquainted with its activities and discuss prospects for cooperation.

• Forum in Istanbul: The Turkmen delegation will take part in the Forum of the OSCE Secretary General and Heads of Border Services of Central Asian Countries, which will be held on June 18-19 in Istanbul (Turkey). The forum will present the main areas of Turkmenistan's work with the OSCE in the field of border security.

• Regional Conference in Ashgabat: A Regional Conference on the Implementation of Preventive Diplomacy, the UN Security Council Agenda "Women, Peace and Security" and the relevant UN Security Council Resolution will be organized jointly with the OSCE in Ashgabat on May 27-28.

These events, as the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan emphasized, are aimed at further strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE in various fields.
