A three-day tactical medical course for instructors, organized by the OSCE, has concluded in Ashgabat. The training involved 31 officers from the State Border Service of Turkmenistan, who work in remote areas and specialize in primary response to emergency situations and rescue operations, as well as doctors from the Central Hospital of the Border Service.

The main goal of the course was to enhance practical skills in providing pre-hospital emergency care and effective response methods in various extreme situations. Participants practiced first aid skills using simulations of injuries typical of complex natural and climatic conditions, and also mastered techniques for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the transportation of victims.

The Head of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, John MacGregor, opening the course, emphasized the particular health and safety risks for border guards serving in various climatic and geographical conditions. He noted that knowledge in the field of tactical medicine can be critically important in situations where timely medical assistance is difficult.

The course was conducted under the guidance of an international expert using a practice-oriented approach and simulation exercises adapted to regional conditions.

The training was part of the OSCE's extra-budgetary project "Strengthening the Capacity of the State Border Service of Turkmenistan" with the financial support of the German government.
