The State Duma of the Russian Federation is preparing to discuss a new concept for the Russian passport, developed by specialists from the communications agency ATLAS. The proposed prototype, as reported by the Pasportrossii.rf portal, envisions a significant external and functional re-imagining of the primary identification document for Russian citizens.

1

The core idea of the project is to create a universal document that can serve as identification both domestically and internationally, effectively combining the functions of an internal and international passport. The ID page of the new document will feature a QR code containing up-to-date information about the holder, ranging from place of registration and marital status to blood group and health data. This information will be presented in multiple languages, which will significantly streamline verification procedures both within Russia and abroad, rendering many traditional stamps unnecessary.

5

The designers have given particular attention to the aesthetic, aiming to make the document more expressive and "vibrant," moving away from the "impersonality" of the current passport. The goal of the designers is to reflect a love for Russia's culture and history within the passport, transforming it into a kind of national "atlas".

The pages of the new document will be adorned with illustrations showcasing the beauty and significance of various regions: from the famous "Bronze Horseman" in St. Petersburg and the forests of Karelia to the Altai Mountains and the shores of the Barents Sea. Additionally, the design incorporates images of the legendary "The Motherland Calls!" sculpture, as well as portraits of Yuri Gagarin and Valentina Tereshkova, symbolizing the country's achievements.

4

Beyond visible images, the pages will contain hidden elements that become apparent under ultraviolet light. These will also reflect national motifs and key events in Russian history. The project for the new document is expected to be considered at a meeting of the State Duma Committee of the Russian Federation in the near future.
