Through a productive collaboration between American startup Skydweller Aero and French company Thales, the Skydweller has been introduced to the world. This innovative unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is capable of remaining airborne for up to 30 days, relying exclusively on solar energy. This breakthrough in aviation technology opens new horizons for prolonged observation and data collection.

The primary characteristic of the Skydweller is its autonomy, achieved through highly efficient solar panels integrated into its expansive wingspan. This design enables the UAV to carry a payload of up to 400 kg. This payload may include, for instance, Thales' AirMaster S radar system, as well as other advanced equipment designated for surveillance and reconnaissance tasks.

The Skydweller is constructed with a lightweight yet robust carbon fiber structure, ensuring not only its payload capacity but also its energy efficiency. Flight management and energy consumption optimization are executed by an advanced artificial intelligence system designated as MAPS. This system renders the Skydweller an ideal solution for prolonged maritime patrolling, monitoring shipping lanes, and executing a wide range of reconnaissance missions.

The Skydweller project serves as a prime example of successful transatlantic cooperation, demonstrating how joint efforts by American and European companies can lead to the creation of high-tech, autonomous, and environmentally friendly solutions. Such aircraft play a pivotal role in ensuring stability and security by providing real-time information without any risk to human crews.
