Turkmen coach appointed to European football club
Turkmen specialist Mergen Orazov has been appointed head coach of the Lithuanian football club "Dainava" the team's press service announced.
Orazov's move to a European club marks a new stage in his professional development. The coach's objective is to help the team strengthen its position in the national championship. "Dainava," which contended for a spot in European competitions last season, is currently in a difficult league situation, holding last place with four points after 16 rounds. With 11 matches remaining until the end of the season, the Lithuanian club anticipates positive changes.
Mergen Orazov is a former professional futsal player who began his coaching career as an assistant at "Altyn Asyr" club. He subsequently led "Kopetdag" and "Ahal" teams with success. Under his guidance, "Ahal" became the champion of Turkmenistan and won the country's Cup and Super Cup. In 2023, he took charge of the Turkmenistan national team. His experience also includes internships at the academy of Spanish club "Villarreal" and with the Portuguese national team.
