A meeting between the leadership of the International University for the Humanities and Development and Kent State University, USA, was held in Florence, Italy. During the visit, Vice-Rector of the International University for the Humanities and Development, Nurmuhammet Shikhliev, was given a detailed overview of the history, structure, programs and international activities of the Kent State University branch, which has been operating in Florence since 1972.

Recall that on October 2, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the International University for the Humanities and Development and Kent State University in Kent, Ohio (USA). Within the framework of this document, the two universities are actively developing a first-of-its-kind draft Agreement on a dual master's degree in Business Administration (M.B.A.) in the higher education system of Turkmenistan.

The launch and implementation of this program involve two years of study in Turkmenistan and the United States and obtaining two diplomas from each university. The curriculum will allow graduate students to successfully master the skills that meet the requirements of the processes occurring in the business sector of the international economy, master a strategic vision and deep knowledge in the field of management, economics and finance.

During the meeting, Vice-Rector of IUHD Nurmuhammet Shikhliev and Director of the Florence branch of Kent State University Fabrizio Ricciardelli discussed a number of priority areas for strengthening further cooperation between the universities.

The meeting was also attended by deans and heads of departments of the branch. The parties reached an agreement in principle to implement academic mobility on a long-term basis in areas of mutual interest. The leadership of the American university also put forward several proposals for further integration of IUHD into the international academic community, in particular:

  • Joining the Consortium of International Universities led by the Florence branch of Kent State University, USA.

  • Creating all necessary conditions for the admission and training of students of the International University for Humanities and Development within the framework of the American University’s summer school program in Florence.

  • Inviting teachers of the International University for Humanities and Development to teach and improve their qualifications at the branch of Kent State University for one academic year.

  • Considering the possibility of inviting professors from the Florence branch of Kent State University to the International University for Humanities and Development for teaching activities.
