Music of Peace and Friendship: A Gala Turkmen-Russian Concert to Be Held in Moscow

A landmark event – a gala Russian-Turkmen concert – will be held in the famous Rachmaninov Hall of the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky. This cultural event is dedicated to two important dates: the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the International Year of Peace and Trust. The concert will be held as part of the prestigious XIX International Music Festival “Gathering Friends”, which traditionally brings together talents and traditions from different countries.
The organizers of this unique evening were the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation, the Sounds of Dutar Foundation (known for the Moscow International Arts Festival “Sounds of Dutar” named after Nury Khalmamedov) and the Moscow State Conservatory, which is the center of Russian and world musical culture.
The ideological core of the concert was the book by National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov "Music of Peace, Music of Friendship and Brotherhood". This profound work is dedicated to the rich musical art of the Turkmen people and their peacekeeping power.
The book revives the legend of the brilliant musician Shukur-bakhshi, who, believing in the power of his art, with a dutar in his hands went to the enemy camp. Instead of bloodshed, the bakhshi proposed a musical competition, winning and freeing his brother from captivity. This image is elevated by the author to the level of a universal idea of peacekeeping as a value of all humanity. The postulate of the book, reflecting the peace-loving orientation of Turkmenistan's policy, will unite not only Russian and Turkmen musicians, but also all the spectators of the concert.

Famous Turkmen academic and folk musicians, whose mastery has won the hearts of listeners in many countries around the world, will arrive in Moscow to participate in the concert. Guests of the evening will also enjoy art and book exhibitions, which will allow them to get to know the richness of Turkmen culture and art better.
This event is a continuation of the strong cultural ties between the peoples of Russia and Turkmenistan. So, a year ago, on August 21, 2024, the same Rachmaninov Hall hosted with great success a concert “He Truly Became the Mouth of Turkmenistan” dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the founder of classical Turkmen literature, Magtymguly Fragi. This is further evidence of the long and fruitful history of cultural interaction between our countries.
