Microsoft has commenced the official rollout of the new Windows 25H2 version as part of its Insider Preview program. This update, which will subsequently become available to all users, includes a significant and long-awaited new feature: a considerably simplified method for uninstalling pre-installed applications.

Many Windows 11 users often do not require pre-installed applications such as "Notes," "Solitaire," "Quick Assist," Xbox, or Clipchamp. Previously, removing these applications necessitated specific command-line or PowerShell skills, which was often inconvenient and could lead to errors or disruptions in system settings.

Patch My PC has actively advocated for the inclusion of a feature in Windows that would allow for the easy and safe uninstallation of these built-in utilities. Microsoft has heeded these requests, and the latest Windows 25H2 build introduces a new option in Group Policy titled "Remove default Microsoft Store packages from the system." This feature provides centralized control over which programs to remove and which to retain. You can locate it by navigating to: "Computer Configuration" → "Administrative Templates" → "Windows Components" → "App Package Deployment".

It is important to note that this convenient feature is not accessible to all users. It is intended solely for Pro versions of Windows; users of the Windows Home edition will not be able to utilize this new capability. This innovation will significantly streamline application management for many users and allow for more flexible customization of the operating system to suit their needs.
