Xiaomi 16 series to feature 50-megapixel front camera
The forthcoming Xiaomi 16 smartphone series will prominently feature a 50-megapixel front-facing camera. The official unveiling of these new devices is scheduled to take place in China in late September 2025, as reported by the renowned insider Digital Chat Station.
It is anticipated that this high-quality selfie camera will be incorporated across all primary models within the series: the Xiaomi 16, Xiaomi 16 Pro, and Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini.
Expected specifications for the models include:
• Xiaomi 16 (standard version): Will be equipped with a 6.5-inch display.
• Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini: Featuring a 6.3-inch screen, this model will offer advanced functionalities, including a large main camera sensor, a periscopic telephoto lens, and wireless charging capabilities. However, the current prototype of this model has a smaller battery capacity, and optimization efforts are ongoing.
• Xiaomi 16 Pro: Will feature a 6.8-inch display.
All models in the Xiaomi 16 series are expected to be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset.
In 2026, the lineup is projected to expand with the introduction of the Xiaomi 16 Ultra and Xiaomi 16S Pro models. It is speculated that the 16S Pro may utilize the Xring O2 chip, while the 16 Ultra might offer a choice between the Xring O2 and Snapdragon 8 Elite 2.
