Over the past week (August 16-22), China's focus was on several key areas, from celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the Xizang Autonomous Region and preparations for a military parade, to strengthening diplomatic ties and making breakthroughs in high-tech fields. These events reflect the country's priorities in development, international policy, and technological progress.

Xi Jinping's Visit to Xizang

On August 20-21, Chinese President Xi Jinping led a central government delegation to participate in the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the Xizang Autonomous Region. He called for efforts to build a modern socialist region that is unified, prosperous, civilized, harmonious, and beautiful. Xi also emphasized the importance of ensuring stability, promoting development, protecting the environment, and strengthening borders.

Military Parade Rehearsal

China held its second rehearsal for a parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Victory over Japanese Aggression and Fascism. According to the State Council Information Office, President Xi Jinping will review the troops during the parade. Officials stated that the event is intended to demonstrate China's support for peace and its firm commitment to upholding international justice.

Wang Yi's Diplomatic Visits

China's top diplomat, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, made a series of important visits to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. His trip to India, the first in three years, was seen as a step toward restoring relations. During the talks, both sides reached a consensus on issues, including the Sino-Indian border. In Pakistan and Afghanistan, discussions focused on strengthening strategic partnerships and jointly combating terrorist forces.

Increase in Foreign Investment

China's Vice Minister of Commerce Ling Ji met with representatives from over 30 foreign companies, including ExxonMobil, IBM, and Siemens, in Guangzhou. He noted that China expects further strengthening of the position of foreign enterprises and the expansion of their activities in scientific research and development.

First Humanoid Robot Games

Beijing hosted the world's first humanoid robot games. The tournament, held from August 14-17, featured over 500 robots representing 280 teams from 16 countries. The competitions included the world's first 100-meter dash for humanoid robots and a fully autonomous 5-on-5 soccer match. The event's goal is to stimulate technological breakthroughs in this field.
