Chinese tech giant Baidu has released a new, significantly improved artificial intelligence model — Ernie X1.1. According to the company, the neural network surpasses its predecessor and competes with leading global models such as GPT-5 and Google Gemini 2.5 Pro.

Ernie X1.1 is based on the Ernie 4.5 model and uses a hybrid training system, which has enabled impressive results. Compared to the previous version, the new model is:

• 34.8% more accurate in handling facts.

• 12.5% better at following instructions.

• 9.6% more effective in solving complex tasks.

According to Baidu, in terms of performance, Ernie X1.1 outperforms DeepSeek R1 and is comparable to flagship products such as GPT-5.

The Ernie X1.1 model has already been integrated into the Ernie Bot website and app. For developers and companies, it is available through the Qianfan AI cloud platform.
