The Second World Summit on Social Development is taking place in Doha, Qatar, from November 4 to 6. The Turkmen delegation, led by Minister of Labor and Social Protection Muhammetseyit Silapov, is actively participating in this global forum.

The summit brought together an impressive number of participants: more than 40 heads of state and government and over 14,000 experts and civil society representatives.

On Tuesday, world leaders adopted the Doha Political Declaration, which reaffirmed their collective global commitment to building a more just and inclusive society.

The document, adopted at the end of the first day of work, represents a collective commitment by governments to combat poverty, create decent jobs, expand access to social protection, and combat discrimination.

The document emphasizes that social development is not only a moral imperative but also a necessary condition for peace, stability, and economic growth.

The agenda of the conference, which the Turkmen delegation is participating in, includes issues directly related to Turkmenistan's national policy: ensuring gender equality, promoting social justice, decent work, and social protection for all.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres called the Doha Declaration a "plan for people" and "an impetus for development." However, he warned that progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is too slow. The UN chief called for urgent reform of the global financial architecture to ensure developing countries have access to development finance and climate action.

The declaration also places special emphasis on the impact of demographic, technological, and environmental change on society and calls for urgent action to combat climate change.

António Guterres urged: "Guided by the Doha Political Declaration, let us implement the bold plan that humanity demands and deserves."

Turkmenistan, as an active member of the UN, will continue to contribute to the implementation of these global priorities.
