Ashgabat, November 14 | ORIENT. A significant event in bilateral economic cooperation is planned for Turkmenistan's President Serdar Berdimuhamedov's state visit to Uzbekistan: the opening of a Turkmen-Uzbek border trade center.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov announced this at a Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Friday, reporting on the comprehensive preparations for the upcoming visit.
The border trade center, which will open during the visit, will become an important tool for expanding diverse trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. Its launch underscores the consistent development of the good-neighborly and friendly dialogue that has been ongoing between Ashgabat and Tashkent since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1993.
The visit of the President of Turkmenistan is timed to the Seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in Tashkent. The Summit's agenda will cover a wide range of interstate partnership areas, including further strengthening constructive interaction in the region and exchanging views on pressing regional and international issues.
A number of side events aimed at enhancing regional cooperation will be organized during the event. High-level bilateral talks are also expected.
