A Monument and Exhibition Marking the 300th Anniversary of Chancellor Ivan Osterman Were Opened in Moscow
A monument dedicated to the outstanding diplomat and Chancellor of the Russian Empire, Ivan Osterman, has been unveiled at the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts in Moscow. The monument was installed on the grounds of his historic estate as part of a program by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs aimed at preserving the memory of former heads of the country’s foreign policy establishment, International Affairs magazine reports.
To mark the anniversary, the exhibition “Chancellor of the Russian Empire” has also been opened, bringing together rare 18th-century artifacts from the collections of the Tretyakov Gallery, the State Historical Museum, and the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts. The exhibition features personal belongings of the Osterman family, jewelry, noble costumes, and imperial porcelain. It offers a rare opportunity to view unique items from different national collections in a single space.
The exhibition at the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts will be open to visitors until February 1, 2026. The project will be of interest to everyone wishing to explore the history of Russian diplomacy and the culture of the empire’s “golden age” through authentic historical artifacts.
