Huawei’s new flagship will be featured with energy-efficient camera
New details about the upcoming Huawei Pura 90 Ultra flagship smartphone have appeared online. According to a Chinese insider, the main upgrade of the model will be a powerful camera featuring a 200-megapixel telephoto lens based on the SmartSens SCC80XS sensor. This was reported by GizmoChina.
The sensor is manufactured using a 22-nanometer process, which provides improved energy efficiency, reduced noise, and an expanded dynamic range. This is expected to significantly enhance image quality when zooming and shooting in low-light conditions.
According to the leak, the main camera will use a 50-megapixel one-inch sensor with a variable aperture, allowing flexible control over depth of field and light intake.
The published concept image shows that the brand’s signature triangular camera module is retained, executed in a modern horizontal layout. The Pura 90 series is also expected to return to flat displays and support 3D facial recognition.
Devices in the lineup will run on the Kirin 9030 platform: the base model will feature the Kirin 9030 chip, while the Pro and Ultra versions will use the more powerful Kirin 9030 Pro. The smartphones will launch with HarmonyOS 6.1, designed for multitasking and deep ecosystem integration.
Battery capacity is reported to be around 6,000 mAh for the base version and may reach up to 7,000 mAh for the higher-end models. Charging support is expected to include 100 W wired charging and 50 W wireless charging.
The announcement of the Huawei Pura 90 series is scheduled for May. The estimated starting price in China will be 5,499 yuan (approximately $788 or €745 at the exchange rate as of January 13, 2026) for the base version.
