Turkmenistan is strengthening its status as a global center for inter-parliamentary dialogue. On February 25, Vepa Khadzhiev, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the UN, met with Martin Chungong, Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), in Geneva. The key outcome of the meeting was the confirmation of Ashgabat's readiness to host the 16th IPU Summit of Women Parliamentarians.

During the meeting, messages from Dunyagozel Gulmanova, Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, were officially conveyed to the Union's leadership. The initiative to hold the summit in the Turkmen capital is seen as a logical continuation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov's ambitious strategy, announced at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, to declare the International Year of Law.

Martin Chungong expressed his full support for Turkmenistan's intentions, emphasizing that advancing the legal agenda and the rule of law is critically important for global stability today. Particular attention was paid to the "synergy effect": In recent years, Central Asian countries' initiatives have increasingly acted as a united front, adding depth to international discussions.

The upcoming summit will serve not only as a platform for discussing gender equality in politics but also as an important link in shaping a new culture of interstate relations based on inclusive development and institutional sustainability. Preparations for the event have already entered an active phase, confirming the parties' commitment to creating a meaningful and effective agenda.
