On February 26, a landmark event in modern diplomacy took place at the historic Lancaster House in London: the first ministerial meeting in the "Central Asia – UK" format. The heads of the foreign ministries of the region and UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper discussed the architecture of a new multilateral dialogue designed to transform trade, economic, and investment ties into a long-term strategic partnership.

Speaking at the meeting, Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov expressed gratitude to the British side for the timely initiative, noting that the "C5+UK" format is being launched at a time of unprecedented regional consolidation in Central Asia.

The minister clearly outlined Ashgabat's priorities within the new dialogue: from the profound modernization of the oil and gas sector and decarbonization to the implementation of advanced fintech solutions, leveraging London's strength as a global financial center. Turkmenistan confirmed its readiness for substantive cooperation in areas such as professional auditing, consulting, and the development of the region's transit potential, which will create real mechanisms for economic growth.

She emphasized that Britain sees enormous potential in the synergy between the region's natural resources and transit capabilities and British expertise in technology, education, and regulatory standards.
