Turkmenistan became the largest foreign delegation at the Russian Chess Crown international festival. The visit of Vepa Myalikgulyev, head of the national federation, to Moscow resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation and the decision to open a school dedicated to the renowned chess player Sergey Karyakin in Ashgabat.

Vep Myalikgulyev's meeting with Sergey Karjakin, President of the Moscow Region Chess Federation (a contender for the world title and a Russian senator), and Albert Minnullin, Executive Director of the Moscow Region Chess Federation, brought the partnership between the federations to a practical level.

What Will Sergey Karjakin's Club Bring to Ashgabat?

Similar centers are already successfully operating from Astana to Budapest and Chile. In Turkmenistan, Karjakin's club will become a platform for the systematic training of young chess players, master classes, and international competitions.

Other areas of cooperation were also discussed, including the development of youth programs, online learning, and the participation of Turkmen chess players in the Asian Chess League series and other competitions in the Russian Federation.

Sergey Karjakin specifically thanked the leadership of Turkmenistan for its support of intellectual sports, noting that the high level of engagement of Turkmen players at the festival in the Moscow region was a highlight of the tournament's launch.
