Negotiations were held at the headquarters of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, marking a new stage in the engagement between Turkmenistan and this leading global financial institution. Esen Aydogdyev, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States, met with IMF Executive Director Patrick Lozevski.

The discussions focused not merely on acknowledging current ties, but rather on transitioning to a deeper, more integrated model of cooperation. The parties discussed in detail ways to enhance technical coordination between the IMF and Turkmenistan’s state financial institutions.

This step aims to establish a practical mechanism for implementing shared economic priorities, thereby demonstrating a high level of mutual trust and a readiness for collaborative expert work.

Ambassador Esen Aydogdyev emphasized that Ashgabat remains committed to constructive dialogue with international financial institutions. The imperative of the times calls for a focus on concrete, measurable results that will foster the stability and growth of the national economy.

The meeting in Washington confirmed that the partnership between Turkmenistan and the IMF is evolving from a system of standard consultations into a framework of long-term engagement, tailored to address the contemporary challenges of the global economy.
