400,000 EVs in four months, a homegrown cruise ship, the C919 aircraft and a fridge you don’t need to open
This is according to reports from Shanghai’s port, the Huaqiangbei market and manufacturers.
Chinese brands are no longer catching up — they are leading. Their products are getting noticed not just for price, but for technology, convenience and even style.
At the Huaqiangbei electronics market in Shenzhen, an Italian buyer honestly admitted: there is so much technology that your head spins. But the impression — is good.
At Shanghai’s port, more than 4,000 Chinese electric vehicles are loaded onto ships every day. In just four months, more than 400,000 cars left from this single port.
But China has surprised the world with more than just wheels. Its first domestically built cruise ship has already carried nearly 700,000 passengers. The C919 passenger aircraft is flying commercial routes. And the CR450 high-speed trains are breaking records.
Then there are two details that say it all. For Australia, the Chinese made a fridge with a clear window — you can see the food without opening the door. For the Middle East — an air conditioner that works at plus 68 degrees Celsius.
Hisense has set up 30 research centers and 37 factories around the world to produce appliances locally. And this year, their overseas orders have grown by 20 percent.
And most importantly — in the first quarter, China’s cross-border e-commerce reached 818 billion yuan.
It may seem like just numbers and successful products. But let’s think about it. If the Chinese have learned to make fridges for Australia, air conditioners for the desert, and ships they never had before — how far will they go tomorrow? And more importantly — when will the world stop noticing the difference between “Chinese” and “premium”? It looks like that moment has already arrived. We just didn’t notice it right away.
