A youth talent development fund, subsidised rental housing, internships for 30,000 people annually, and the HICOOL Global Entrepreneurship Summit
As reported by CCTV+, on Tuesday, Beijing unveiled a series of support measures aimed at strengthening services for young people, focusing on their needs in housing, entrepreneurship, economic growth and public services.
The capital has launched a youth talent development fund of 30 billion yuan (about 4.4 billion US dollars) to lower financing costs for young entrepreneurs.
The city will allocate 30,000 apartments for young people, providing affordable housing including free short-term rentals and subsidised long-term leases. Twenty well-equipped and conveniently located youth talent development zones will be established. In addition, three million square metres of office space will be provided at reduced prices.
Moreover, 3,000 “consultants” will be appointed to support young entrepreneurs, offering them tailored services such as policy advice and business facilitation.
Liu Guangyi, Deputy Director of the Beijing Talent Work Bureau, said: “This year, Beijing will offer more than 3,000 high-quality job opportunities for Chinese students returning from abroad. Every year, the city attracts 30,000 young people for internships and practical experience. Events such as the HICOOL Global Entrepreneurship Summit and the China-Europe Talent Forum will be held here to attract young talent and promote cooperation through exchanges.”
30 billion yuan for talent. 30,000 apartments. 3,000 consultants. 3 million square metres of office space. Beijing is not just promising — it is counting. Young entrepreneurs need not only money, but also a roof over their heads, a place for their business and a mentor to guide them. The city provides everything at once. 30,000 interns a year. The HICOOL Global Summit. The China-Europe Forum. China’s capital is becoming not just a city of opportunities — it is becoming a city that packages those opportunities into ready-made solutions. The question is not whether young people will stay in Beijing. They will. The question is how many other cities can offer the same package. While they are thinking, Beijing is already moving people into apartments. And handing out the keys to the future.
