The total economic output of China's Yangtze River Delta region reached 34.66 trillion yuan (approx. 5.07 trillion U.S. dollars) in 2025, hitting a new record high, according to the latest data from the Yangtze River Delta Regional Cooperation Office.
The number of "trillion-yuan cities" in the region increased to 10, accounting for over one-third of the Chinese cities with such economic size.
The ten cities are Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Ningbo, Wuxi, Hefei, Nantong, Changzhou and Wenzhou.
The total exports of the region amounted to 10.85 trillion yuan, representing 40.2 percent of the national total. This further highlighted the region's role as a strong and dynamic growth engine for the country's economy.
The Yangtze River Delta region, which covers Shanghai Municipality and the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui, all in east China, is one of China's most economically dynamic, open and innovative areas, playing a key role in national development and driving high transportation demand.
