Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of Central Military Commission, on Monday visited China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd. during his inspection tour of the Xiong'an New Area in north China's Hebei Province.
During the inspection tour, Xi greeted representatives of officials and staff from organizations relocated as part of the projects to relieve Beijing of functions non-essential to its role as China's capital, which have moved in or are under construction.
Founded in 1985, China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd. currently has a workforce of 123,000 employees. The group has developed a number of major national-level projects in areas including fourth-generation nuclear power, grid cybersecurity, offshore wind power, and new-type energy storage.
As one of the first state-owned enterprises (SOEs) directly administered by the central government to relocate its headquarters to the Xiong'an New Area, China Huaneng Group officially moved over 1,200 employees into the new area in October 2025. It has formulated and implemented plans to support the development of the Xiong'an New Area, with an aim to better serve the overall work of the Party and the country, promote high-quality economic and social development, and assist in safeguarding and improving people's livelihood.
Xi inspects Xiong'an New Area in north China

Xi viewed construction progress in the start-up zone and visited China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd. and the Xiong'an campus of Beijing No. 4 High School to learn about the development of the Xiong'an New Area.
