The ninth Digital China Summit opened in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, showcasing how robotics and other new technologies can transform everyday life. The focus was on the latest innovative developments.
The two-day event kicked off on Wednesday. More than 65 percent of the technologies and products on display were being shown for the first time. The exhibition area covered 56,000 square meters, and this year a new section was dedicated to AI-driven innovations, including the impact of artificial intelligence on robotics.
From kitchen assistance to board games, robots at the summit demonstrated their ability to perform complex daily tasks. A representative from China Mobile presented a newly released four-legged robotic guide dog. She highlighted its additional features: a built-in cane to assist visually impaired users, as well as mounts for carrying small personal items.
"Its main functions are autonomous navigation and providing directions. We have added new external accessories to the robot dog, such as a 'smart' suit. Once this suit is put on, the robot dog gains whole-body tactile perception," explained Xing Xijia, exhibition manager at China Mobile's Hangzhou Research Center.
At one of the sub-forums, China Mobile also showcased over 40 AI-based services, ranging from smart payments to industrial applications.
Together, these innovations illustrate the dual role of next-generation automation: solving practical problems while adding lifestyle and leisure elements. This extends even to tea culture, deeply rooted in Fujian Province. At a demonstration booth, a tea-making robot mastered the entire process — from selecting tea leaves to the final pour.
Meanwhile, intelligent AI assistants are turning cars from mere transportation into mobile smart spaces.
"Here we are demonstrating a text-to-script function. With a single voice command, you can control multiple settings in the car. Artificial intelligence understands your intentions and automatically adjusts parameters such as fan speed and temperature," said Qiu Shiyu, a product specialist for smart automotive interiors.
The Digital China Summit was held under the motto: "Accelerating Innovation and Development of Digital Technologies and Deepening the Construction of Digital China."
