Textile suppliers in Guangzhou, the administrative center of southern China's Guangdong Province, are actively leveraging the opportunities offered by the Canton Fair — the world's largest trade exhibition — to expand their international presence and increase overseas orders.
The 139th Canton Fair, officially known as the China Import and Export Fair, is being held in three phases in Guangzhou from April 15 to May 5. It brings together buyers from around the world to explore a wide range of products at China's premier trade show.
At the Guangzhou International Textile City in Haizhu District, which hosts around three thousand competitive local suppliers of fabrics and garment accessories, a business networking event was recently held. The event facilitated cooperation between local enterprises and more than forty international buyers from countries including the United States and France.
Ashen Rankathilaka, a buyer from Sri Lanka, said: "We specialize in fabrics for children's clothing. Today, I think this is a wonderful opportunity that you have organized this one-on-one business meeting. It is a good, excellent concept. I have visited this market several times, but I never had such an opportunity before. So I am very grateful to the organizing committee for the invitation and for giving us this opportunity."
In recent years, Guangzhou has been making full use of its advantages as the host city of the Canton Fair. It regularly holds precise supply-demand matchmaking events, widely inviting buyers from around the world to visit local enterprises and immerse themselves in specialized markets. This promotes more efficient foreign trade cooperation.
Xie Jun, Chief Economist of the Bureau of Science, Industry, Trade and Information Technology of Haizhu District, noted: "We respond to customers' procurement needs efficiently, accurately and in a tailored manner. At the same time, this allows us to better promote our suppliers' products in overseas markets.
