According to the latest commercial data, China's consumer goods trade-in program had generated 619.36 billion yuan (approximately $90.25 billion) in revenue as of May 2, reaching 84.274 million people.
Since May 1, various local authorities have actively expanded subsidy programs, effectively stimulating market activity.
In addition to the ten categories of goods defined at the national level, regions including Shanghai, Hubei, and Chongqing have added kitchen appliances, cleaning products, smart home devices, and other consumer goods, with maximum subsidies ranging from 1,000 to 2,000 yuan per unit.
According to Chinese retail giant Suning.com, during the first three days of the May Day holidays — which ran from last Friday to Tuesday — sales of new smart appliance categories such as robot vacuums and dishwashers surged in regions where subsidy programs were expanded, becoming a new driver of holiday consumption.
