Turkmen athletes already have 79 gold medals

Today the Turkmen team excelled at the competitions of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in kickboxing, sambo, freestyle wrestling, weightlifting, basketball. 13 medals have been won, including 2 gold medals.

The national team of Turkmenistan confidently leads in the overall standings, having 206 medals, 79 of which are gold, 58 are silver and 69 are bronze. China is in second place with 61 medals, including 23 gold. On the third place is Iran with 22 gold from 89 medals.

The competitions in kickboxing in the male and female categories continued. Maysa Gupbykova in the discipline "point-fighting" in the final of the weight category up to 55 kg lost to Shahnaz Mirhedari from the Islamic Republic of Iran and brought the team "silver". Farida Kutlimuradova (56 kg) in the discipline of "full contact" won"bronze".

Today in the "low kick" discipline in the semi-final of the weight category up to 63.5 kg our fighter Muhammet Altybaev defeated Tinghao Feng from the People’s Republic of China and would fight for "gold". The team of Iran leads in the overall standings. On the second place is Uzbekistan, on the third is Turkmenistan.

In the sambo in the weight category up to 57 kg, our athlete Akhmet Tanriberdiev took the "gold", who won Rakhmatdzhon Akhmedov from Uzbekistan in the final fight. His example was followed by another wrestler Charymyrat Annagurbanov (100 kg), who got on the first stage of the podium by the results of the fight with Daniyar Alymdzhanov from Kyrgyzstan. Bekmyrat Meredov (68 kg) and Ruslan Esgerov (90 kg) won silver medals. Muhammet Kossekov (68 kg) won bronze medal, and in the women's category in the weight category of 72 kg the medals were taken by Lyale Nuriyeva and Dilafruz Yusupova.

The fights in freestyle wrestling started today and brought to the national team two bronzes. Batyr Borzhakov in the weight category up to 65 kilograms and Dovletmyrat Orazgylydzhov in the weight category up to 74 kilograms got on the third step of the podium. The competition in freestyle wrestling will continue on September 25 and 26.

At weightlifting, where the weightlifters from Chinese won the highest number of gold medals, today the winners in weight categories up to 105 kilograms for men and up to 90 kilograms for women have been determined. Aisoltan Toichieva, having in total 215 kg in a snatch and a jerk, has conceded only Eileen Kikamatane from Fiji and has brought to the assets of the Turkmen national team a "silver" reward.

The first medal for Turkmenistan in team game sports was won by the national women's basketball team 3x3. Losing today in the semi-finals to basketball players from Thailand with a score of 20:11, our team fought for the "bronze" with sportsmen from Syria. After an equal start, our basketball players allowed their opponents to go to a dangerous gap 4: 9. However, on time they suddenly got together, first equalized and after came forward by a two-point shot of Aina Gokova. In the end, our sportsmen played accurately and confidently. The result is victory of our team with a score of 15:12 and the third step on the podium. The national team of Thailand also took "gold". They won basketball players from Uzbekistan in the final with a score of 22:20. And in general, in the category of basketball Qatar team has championship.

Short course swimming competitions continued with swimming butterfly, on the back, and freestyle. The first line in the medal table on swimming is with China. Our countryman Merdan Atayev took fifth place in the final swim on the back at a distance of 100 meters. The first place was taken by Dongvon Jeong from the Republic of Korea, whose team already has 4 gold for this sport. At this moment China team has the first place in standings in swimming competitions.

In billiards, following the results of today's games in the discipline of the "Russian pyramid" in a combined style, Ibadbekir Bekdurdyev went to the semifinals where he will meet with Yzatbek Ratbekov from Kyrgyzstan on September 25.

In competitions in bowling, a double-draw was held in women. The results of our athletes in this discipline did not allow them to enter the quarterfinals. The first place belongs to Chunli Jiang and Yuhong Jiang from the People’s Republic of China. In bowling today the Republic of Korea is leading with 5 medals, two of them are gold.

The tennis tournament continues. Particularly interesting were the semi-final matches. Three more finalists were determined today. Sumit Nagal from India, who defeated Farrukh Dustov from Uzbekistan in the men's singles category. Aldila Sutjiadi and Beatrice Gumul, both from Indonesia, will meet in the women’s final.

Chess games in singles were finished. Our chess player Meilis Annaberdyev and Khandjar Odeyev took 11^th and 21^st places respectively from 44 participants of group competitions. The winner here was Liu Kuang Le from China. Turkmen players Bahar Khallaeva and Mykhri Geldiyeva took the 21^st and 22^nd places in the standings, which is headed by Zonggyi Tang from the PRC. Fights on the chessboards continue with team competitions in rapid and blitz.

Today the finalists in the futsal were determined. The national teams of Iran and Uzbekistan among men will play for "gold". They defeated the team of Afghanistan, respectively, with the score of 8:2 and team of Japan in penalty shoot-outs. The women's team of Japan defeated the IRI team with a score of 2:0 and will now meet in the decisive match with the futsalists from Thailand, taking up the team of the PRC with a score of 4:1.
