The new building of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat marks significant investments in bilateral partnership and promotion of common values and goals, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hadjiev said at the opening ceremony of the office organizations in the Turkmen capital.
"It will provide the OSCE with favorable conditions for the development and effective implementation of a wide range of programs, projects and activities. This facility will undoubtedly serve as a center for the effective implementation of multilateral cooperation in the OSCE area," Hajyyev said.
The new building was provided to the OSCE Center in Ashgabat by the Government of Turkmenistan free of charge.
"With the acquisition of this building, the OSCE Center will be able to better perform its functions and tasks in accordance with its mandate," said Helga Schmidt, Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, who also participated in the opening of the new office.
In turn, the head of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat, John McGregor, noted that the provision of a new modern building "testifies to the goodwill of the host country and its commitment to cooperation with the OSCE."
The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe is an important partner of Turkmenistan in promoting and developing dialogue between the countries of the region based on common interests in order to ensure peace, stability and prosperity for all.
Turkmenistan and the OSCE Center in Ashgabat have been successfully cooperating for 25 years on a number of initiatives aimed at strengthening political and economic cooperation, infrastructure development and environmental protection.
