The Year of Culture of Turkmenistan will be held in China

Holding the Year of Culture of Turkmenistan in China and strengthening cooperation in this area between countries was the main topic of the meeting between Ambassador of Turkmenistan to China Parahat Durdyev and Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China Zhang Zheng.

The Turkmen diplomat emphasized the importance of holding the Year of Culture of Turkmenistan in China. This year the 300th anniversary of the great poet Magtymguly Fragi is celebrated in Turkmenistan and abroad. In honor of the anniversary of the Eastern thinker, a translation of his poems into Chinese is being prepared with the support of the Beijing Institute of Foreign Languages.

Parahat Durdyev also proposed organizing various events within the framework of the Year of Culture together with the Chinese Equestrian Association. Noting the successful holding of a visiting meeting of the association in 2014 with the participation of the leaders of the two countries, the Ambassador took the initiative to prepare a statement on behalf of the heads of Turkmenistan and the PRC, expressing their readiness to further strengthen cooperation in the field of horse breeding.

Among the initiatives proposed by the Ambassador are the opening of a monument to Magtymguly in China and the screening of a play about the Great Silk Road. It is noteworthy that a monument to Chinese poet Dun Fu was erected in Turkmenistan.

Zhang Zheng, noting the long history of relations between Turkmenistan and China, spoke about the enormous role of cooperation in the field of culture and tourism. He pointed to the huge success of the 2023 Chinese Year of Culture in Turkmenistan.

He also invited the Turkmen Ambassador to the annual event for foreign diplomats, which will be held in Shandong province from April 22 to 26.

The opening ceremony of the Year of Culture of Turkmenistan in China is planned to be held in early summer of this year.
