Elon Musk has announced that xAI will release a new version of its AI model, named Grok 4, shortly after July 4th. This model was initially under development as Grok 3.5 but was renamed during its creation.

On June 27th, Musk posted on X: "Polishing @Grok with the @xAI team all night. Good progress. New version will be called Grok 4. Releasing just after July 4th. Need one more big run for the specialized coding model".

This announcement follows the February release of Grok 3, which xAI described as significantly more intelligent than its predecessor. The current version of Grok is accessible to X Premium Plus subscribers and through xAI's specialized platforms.

Musk revealed ambitious plans for Grok 4's application. He stated that the model, equipped with advanced logical reasoning, will be utilized to "rewrite the entire body of human knowledge" available on the internet. The objective of this process is to eliminate inaccuracies, incorporate missing information, and purge so-called "junk data".

Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X, previously expressed confidence that xAI's new Grok model would become the "smartest AI model in the world" upon its release.

xAI, founded by Musk in 2023, developed Grok 3 using its Colossus supercomputer, which was constructed in less than nine months.
