Oriented on making people closer

The 7th China Xinjiang International National Dance Festival opened on Sunday in Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The event, which runs until August 5, will feature 52 presentations by performers from China and eight countries - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, the United States, Italy and Cambodia - covering various arts, including dance drama, opera, ballet and modern dance, Xinhua reported.

The main festival venue is Urumqi, with additional venues in Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, Hotan Prefecture, Aksu Prefecture, Karamay, Hami and Aral cities.

A day earlier, on Saturday, in the same region, the Tianma Culture and Tourism Festival, dedicated to the theme of horses, began in the Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture of the Xinjiang Uygur Region.
