On October 22, the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, J. Gurbangeldiyev, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Xi Shumin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Turkmenistan. The meeting, which emphasized the strategic nature of bilateral cooperation, focused on expanding academic exchanges, increasing scholarship programs, and implementing joint projects in the field of digital educational technologies.
Discussions centered on the practical deepening of cooperation across several key areas. The parties discussed expanding collaboration in Chinese language studies, developing professional training programs for teachers, and intensifying academic exchanges between universities.
The Turkmen side expressed gratitude for China’s support of ongoing grant initiatives and discussed the possibility of increasing scholarship opportunities for Turkmen students.
Special attention was given to the promotion of joint projects in digital educational technologies. The practical implementation of the “Luban Workshop” project in Turkmenistan was also discussed in detail. The project will involve the International University of Oil and Gas named after Yagshygeldi Kakayev, Hebei Petroleum Vocational and Technical University, and Xi’an Shiyou University.
Following the meeting, both sides confirmed their readiness to further deepen practical and mutually beneficial cooperation. The dialogue contributes to strengthening Turkmenistan’s educational potential and to advancing the strategy of friendly relations with the People’s Republic of China.
