China CAMC Engineering Corporation participated in the joint international exhibition and conference, which brought together the transportation and communications industries under one roof. This relatively young (just 24 years old) but large state-owned company is widely known far beyond China's borders. ORIENT correspondents Enejan Kepbanova and Seyli Aryshov interviewed the vice president of China CAMC Engineering Co., Ltd.

— Mr. Liu Shengcheng, please introduce our readers to the company you head.

— China CAMC Engineering was founded in May 2001 and is currently listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. Its main activities include turnkey contracts. In a short period of time, we have completed nearly a hundred large projects not only in China but also in many countries around the world.

— Tell please, what areas does the company work in?

— The corporation's areas of interest are quite broad – China CAMC Engineering is actively involved in energy-related projects, including renewable energy sources, such as solar power plants. We also offer services in agriculture and the chemical industry, primarily in the construction of related complexes. We also build transportation and civil infrastructure.

In addition to general contracting, China CAMC Corporation is involved in domestic and foreign investment and international trade, often acting as the main contractor or partner in major investment projects, such as wastewater treatment plants.

Since its inception, China CAMC Engineering has been operating internationally, with branches and representative offices in many countries. We also invest in and provide financing for equipment exports in sectors such as industry, agriculture, energy, water supply, and more.

The company collaborates with various international and government organizations, including export credit insurance corporations, to implement large-scale projects, often as part of the Belt and Road Initiative.

— You say that China CAMC Engineering Corporation is implementing many projects as part of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative. Turkmenistan also has...

— I know! It's the "Revival of the Great Silk Road" project. Both of these initiatives have many similarities because they share common goals—the desire to revive ancient traditions of trade, cultural exchange, and dialogue between the civilizations of the East and West. This entails developing infrastructure, building transport corridors, simplifying trade operations, and much more.

The "One Belt, One Road" and "Revival of the Great Silk Road" strategies are harmoniously integrated. And their implementation will ensure economic growth not only at the national and regional levels, but also internationally.

We highly value the development of the Turkmen economy. Your country's leadership—the President and the Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty—are paying great attention to its development. I can judge this based on personal impressions, as this is my third visit to Turkmenistan this year alone, and I've seen firsthand how rapidly the country is developing. Therefore, China CAMC Engineering, like many other Chinese companies, is striving to enter the promising Turkmen market and establish a foothold here.

— What were your key impressions from the discussions and working meetings held during the forum?

— The joint international conferences and exhibitions we participated in left a very positive impression. During the forum, we held fruitful meetings with our colleagues from Turkmenistan, railway workers, who are, incidentally, highly skilled professionals.

We also signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Railway Transport of Turkmenistan and China CAMC Engineering Co., Ltd. We very much look forward to further mutually beneficial cooperation with your country and are ready to apply our energy, experience, and professionalism here.

— And with what mood are you leaving Turkmenistan?

— I would like to express my gratitude to the Turkmen side for the invitation to participate in the forum. Beyond purely business-related matters, I would like to emphasize once again that Turkmenistan is a very beautiful country. Ashgabat defies standard definitions of "beauty"—it is a unique, distinctive city in its beauty and cleanliness, home to kind and friendly people. Anyone who comes to Turkmenistan feels absolutely safe here.

We are confident that the hospitality and businesslike spirit of our colleagues will provide a solid foundation for the speedy implementation of our jointly planned projects.
