On December 2, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov made a working visit to Mary Velayat. The purpose of the visit was to review the pace of seasonal agricultural work and oversee the implementation of objectives arising from the National Rural Program.
The head of state held a working meeting with agricultural sector leaders, at which he outlined the main priority for the development of the agro-industrial complex: the transition to a strictly scientific and innovative farming system.
After hearing a report by Deputy Prime Minister Tangryguly Atakhalliyev on the work of research institutes (grain, agricultural, and cotton), the President emphasized that increasing crop yields and ensuring food abundance directly depends on the quality of research. It is essential to diversify the work of research institutes and effectively study advanced global practices and modern agricultural technologies.
The head of state emphasized the need for comprehensive scientific research to improve agricultural land fertility and introduce innovative production technologies. The President instructed plant breeders to focus on developing high-yielding varieties specifically adapted to the country's unique soil and climate conditions.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the qualifications and experience of scientists in the field of plant breeding and seed production should be central to the reform, issuing specific instructions to improve their training.
Summarizing the meeting's results, the President of Turkmenistan emphasized that the successful implementation of these science-based reforms will make a decisive contribution to achieving positive results for farmers, increasing the production of competitive products, and strengthening food abundance in the country.
