Ashgabat, February 2 | ORIENT. At a traditional working meeting on Monday, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov compared notes with the heads of the country's regions. The focus is on the agronomic "recharging" of fields and the social well-being of the population.
February is a time of meticulous work for Turkmen farmers. The fate of the 2026 harvest is now at stake.
• Cotton: Plowing has entered the final stage. The main focus is on seed quality and the "combat readiness" of equipment.
• Wheat: Fields are undergoing fertilization and vegetation maintenance.
• Vegetable landing: Particular attention is being paid to potatoes and melons, the key to food abundance in domestic markets.
• Sugar Focus: In the Mary velayat, the harvest and processing of sugar beets—an important link in import substitution—is nearing completion.
Along with preparations for field work, the President focused the attention of the hyakims on the household front. Heating in schools, kindergartens, and residential buildings must operate without interruption.
The regional leaders also reported on the progress of construction projects scheduled for completion this year. The head of state ordered that the hyakims personally oversee the quality and timing of construction.
