Turkmenistan's diplomatic reach is expanding in Southeast Asia. On February 10, a ceremony was held at the Amphorn Royal Palace in Bangkok: Ambassador Mukhametniyaz Mashalov (residing in Kuala Lumpur) presented his credentials to King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand.
King Maha Vajiralongkorn (Rama X) congratulated the Turkmen envoy on the start of his mission and expressed his desire to visit Turkmenistan in the future. This interest from the monarch is an important signal for the development of cultural and tourist exchanges between the countries.
The Ambassador conveyed warm greetings from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, confirming Ashgabat's readiness to develop closer ties with one of Southeast Asia's largest economies. Priority areas include trade and economics, humanitarian affairs, and political dialogue.
Following the audience with the King, Mukhametniyaz Mashalov met with Foreign Minister of Thailand Sikhasak Phuangketkao. The minister pledged full support for the Turkmen mission in Bangkok.
