On April 8, an important stage of the Turkmen-Korean dialogue took place in Seoul: the first consultations between the two ministries of foreign affairs on consular cooperation. The delegations were led by Deputy Foreign Ministers Akhmet Gurbanov of Turkmenistan and Lim Sang-woo of the Republic of Korea.
The meeting laid the foundation for long-term cooperation between their consular services. The parties agreed that the dynamic of relations between our countries requires regular and in-depth exchange of experience rather than one-time decisions. The talks focused on three key areas:

Updating the Legal Framework: Work has begun to improve the bilateral agreements governing consular relations. This is a crucial step in creating a reliable legal framework for citizens of both countries.
Technology and Service: Diplomats discussed the implementation of best practices in consular sections. The goal is to make document processing and assistance to citizens more modern and efficient.
Frequency of Contacts: The parties confirmed that such consultations will become a tradition. This will allow for the prompt removal of emerging barriers and the maintenance of an intensive pace of cooperation.

Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea expressed their readiness to further strengthen their partnership across the entire spectrum of consular issues, creating a solid foundation for expanding humanitarian and business ties.
