Eleven countries to compete for e-Sports at V Asian Games in Ashgabat
77 gamers from 11 countries will participate in e-Sports competitions during V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat, said press release of Olympic Committee of Asia. Teams from China, Chinese Taipei, Laos, Vietnam, Philippines, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Iran, Jordan, Pakistan and Turkmenistan will rival in electronic sports, which is a form of video game competition between professional players. Electronic sports has been included in to the program as a demonstration sport, and will be held with popularization purposes. It means that the medals gained during gaming tournaments will not be counted in the overall medal standings. The e-sports program, to be played out on 25-27 September, includes four events:
- Dota 2 (Defence of the Ancients - Multiplayer Online Battle Arena - MOBA)
- Hearthstone (fast-paced strategy card game)
- StarCraft II (RTS – Real-Time Strategy)
- The King of Fighters XIV
