Carpet Festival, Bike Rides, and Azerbaijan Culture Days on the Upcoming Events Program
At a Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Friday, May 22, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov reviewed a plan for cultural and sporting events marking key dates in the national and international calendar.
The main event of late May and the beginning of summer will be the celebrations in honor of the Turkmen Carpet Festival. A large-scale specialized exhibition will be held in Ashgabat, along with the 26th meeting of the World Association of Turkmen Carpet Connoisseurs, which will bring together renowned scholars, experts, and representatives of the global carpet industry from dozens of countries.
Thematic conferences will complement the scientific foundation of the festival, and the culmination of the celebrations will be the traditional ceremony honoring leading carpet weavers at the National Museum of Turkmen Carpet, where they will be presented with state awards and awarded the honorary title of Honored Carpet Weaver of Turkmenistan.
Following the carpet forum, the capital will be swept by a wave of mass sports for World Bicycle Day. The festive marathon will begin on May 30 with themed cyclocross races, sports competitions, and scientific and practical conferences in all regions, as well as in the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag. The main event of the celebration on June 3 will be the traditional bike ride along the capital's avenues.
The cultural agenda in June is characterized by a high diplomatic and creative density. The capital will host the Days of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Turkmenistan, as well as a number of international subject Olympiads and exhibitions.
The country's creative map will encompass all regions: the final rounds of the prestigious "Çalsana, bagşy!" competition will take place in the Daşoguz, Lebap, and Mary velayats, while the traditional Culture Week, dedicated to the Day of Culture and Art Workers and the Poetry of Magtymguly Pyragy, will unfold in the Balkan velayat.
A special place on the calendar will be occupied by the celebrations commemorating the third anniversary of the opening of the Arkadag smart city.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov ordered that the impeccable organizational level of each event be ensured, emphasizing their importance in promoting a healthy lifestyle and the nation's rich heritage.
