Ashgabat Industrial Forum Draws 800 Participants from 60 Countries, Yielding a Package of International Agreements

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan is hosting an international exhibition and conference, timed to the Day of Construction and Industrial Complex Workers. This large-scale event, themed "Development of the Construction, Industrial, Chemical, and Energy Sectors of Turkmenistan," has brought together approximately 800 delegates from nearly 60 countries, including representatives from leading global corporations based in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. The forum showcases not only the nation’s technological potential but also the tangible outcomes of its active business partnerships.

The participants are focusing on key sectors of the national economy—ranging from urban planning and transport infrastructure to the chemical industry and the energy sector. Guests have shown particular interest in the exhibits of Turkmenistan’s long-standing partners, such as Çalık Enerji, Gap İnşaat, Rönesans, and Bouygues, as well as the technological solutions presented by Interbudmontazh for the development of "smart" underground infrastructure.

A significant portion of the exhibition is dedicated to the achievements of the domestic private sector. Turkmen entrepreneurs are showcasing projects in areas such as construction, electrical equipment, and the manufacturing of import-substituting goods—ranging from IT solutions by the business entity "Aýdyň gijeler" to industrial safety systems. The pavilions representing the innovative city of Arkadag and its medical cluster, "Arkadag Medisina Klasteri Menejment," serve as prime examples of the practical implementation of "green" standards and a digital environment.

A tangible outcome of the first day’s business program was the signing of an extensive package of memoranda of understanding and cooperation.
In the realm of urban planning and architectural innovation, the Ministry of Construction and Architecture of Turkmenistan concluded agreements with the British firm ZHA Architects Limited, the Kazakhstani company FALTEC (focused on the development of earthquake-resistant construction systems), and the Swiss company Leica Geosystems AG.
In the industrial sector, the Ministry of Industry and Construction Production focused on forging technological partnerships with German companies—VEM Sachsenwerk GmbH, NTS Service GmbH, Refratechnik Cement GmbH, and Grenzebach BSH GmbH—as well as with the Chinese firm Sany International Development Limited.
A significant set of agreements focused on the energy, transport, and high-technology sectors. The Ministry of Energy formalized its intent to cooperate with China’s TBEA Shenyang Transformer Group Co., Ltd. and Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation.
Furthermore, the relevant ministries—covering finance and economy, energy, and communications—signed a tripartite agreement on digital infrastructure with the Malaysian firm Bitdeer Supply Chain Sdn. Bhd.
In the road transport sector, the Ministry of Highways has directed its efforts toward implementing intelligent management systems in partnership with the Slovak company Betamont s.r.o., as well as adopting measurement technologies in collaboration with Leica Geosystems AG.
In the chemical sector, the State Concern "Turkmenhimiya" has signed memoranda with the Danish company Topsoe A/S—aimed at ensuring the operational reliability of plants in Ahal and Garabogaz—as well as with the South Korean firm Samsung E&A Co., Ltd., focusing on the strategic development of the industry.

Running alongside the exhibition is an extensive business program. This includes a UN-organized international round table on sustainable cities, as well as plenary sessions dedicated to the practical implementation of Turkmenistan’s National Strategy for Industrial Development (2030–2045). In various breakout sessions, delegates are engaged in detailed discussions on topics such as attracting international investment, modernizing the road network, the digitalization of the construction sector, and the development of renewable energy.
