A multidisciplinary field bringing together scientists, experts and business leaders to discuss the future of BCI technology

As reported by CCTV+, several brain-computer interface products were on display at the World Intelligence Expo 2026, which opened on Thursday in Tianjin. Over four days, visitors gathered at booths to test the products, which include health monitoring, visual examination, sports assistance and rehabilitation training.

The expo also brought together BCI industry leaders, as well as experts and scientists from universities and research institutes, to discuss the future of the field.

Liu Xiuyun, Deputy Director of the Haihe Laboratory for Brain-Computer Interaction and Human-Machine Integration, noted: “Brain-computer interface is an interdisciplinary field of research. We need scientists from different disciplines to come together, exchange ideas to generate new insights, and advance cutting-edge technologies further and deeper into this field.”

Brain and computer. Thought and signal. The Tianjin expo showed that the boundary between human and machine is becoming thinner. Health monitoring, sports, rehabilitation — BCI is moving from labs into real life. Scientists from different fields are gathering to discuss the future.

The question is not whether you can connect a brain to a computer. You already can. The question is how quickly these technologies will become accessible to everyone. And what we will do with them. While some are only imagining, others are already testing. And collecting data. And debating new ideas. Tianjin is not just an expo. It is a bridge. Between thought and action.
