An exhibition of decorative and applied art of Iran opened in Ashgabat

The decorative and applied arts of Iran appeared today in different directions of artistic creativity and folk crafts in the Ashgabat Museum of Fine Arts. The exhibition is one of many events of the Days of Iranian Culture in the Turkmen capital. Elegant ceramic vessels, exquisite jewelry, amazing tapestries, painted fabrics, the finest chasing, incrustation, calligraphic and pictorial works confirm how expressive, metaphorical and inexhaustible in its wealth is the ancient art of Iran.Aijahan ATABALLYEVA
Iranian national clothes, accessories with intricate ornaments, famous Persian carpets are demonstrated in all their beauty. A separate place is occupied by an exhibition of photographs of selected masterpieces of the ancient Iranian art and culture of the National Museum of Iran, reflecting the ancient period of the history of this country.
The masters-continuers of ancient traditions of folk crafts present at the exhibition, with great enthusiasm, explain the peculiarities of this or that genre, its symbolism, and some even offer to try to become potters or wood carvers.
In one of the corners of the hall, having gathered around him a lot of people, performed the master Ali Vejdani, who made wonderful paintings on wood. A university professor in Mashhad, in front of interested visitors, creates amazing images.
"I have been doing this business for 24 years and, I confess, I get great pleasure from it," he says. "My dream is to pass this ancient art to the young, because every new generation of artists brings into it its vision, modern worldview, not letting go of that spark of creative discoveries that nourishes any culture.
