Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike Invited to Visit Ashgabat and Arkadag Smart City

During a working meeting in Tokyo, Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Japan, Atadurdy Bayramov, invited Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike to visit Turkmenistan at any time convenient for both parties. The invitation placed particular emphasis on the opportunity for her to participate in events taking place in Ashgabat and the Arkadag smart city.
The main practical focus of the meeting with the Tokyo Governor was the integration of high technologies and innovative development. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the implementation of artificial intelligence and global digital transformation, as well as the intensification of bilateral economic, industrial, and technological exchange. Cultural dialogue and the tourism industry were also discussed.

The special historical significance of the friendly and constructive talks between the President of Turkmenistan, Emperor Naruhito of Japan, and Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, which were successfully held in Tokyo in April and December 2025 and laid a solid foundation for current joint projects, was emphasized.
This progressive movement and the inviolability of the strategic partnership were simultaneously confirmed by the meeting held this week in Ashgabat, where Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov received Japanese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Sasaki Hiroshi. The head of the Foreign Ministry and the Japanese diplomat unanimously acknowledged the progress in bilateral relations and discussed new promising areas of mutual interest. It was emphasized that regular high-level contacts and ongoing political dialogue between the relevant ministries serve as a reliable guarantee for the expansion of mutually beneficial Turkmen-Japanese cooperation over the long term.
