Turkmen lawmakers invited as observers for Presidential elections in Russia


Mejlis of Turkmenistan is invited to accredit its monitoring mission as international observers for the presidential elections in the Russian Federation scheduled for 18 March.
It was announced during the meeting with Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Moscow Batyr Niyazliyev with the Chairman of the Committee on international relations of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly, Senator Konstantin Kosachev. In the near future, invitations for Turkmen parliamentarians will be sent to Ashgabat.
In addition, Russian legislators have proposed their assistance in holding parliamentary elections in Turkmenistan, which will be held on 25 March 25.
The high-ranking representative of the Federation Council noted with satisfaction the progressive development of Turkmen-Russian cooperation, calling the interaction between the legislative bodies “an important factor and “engine for the development of relations between the two countries.”
The parties have also considered plans for further joint work. In particular, they discussed the possibility of holding meetings of friendship groups of both parliaments and outlined a range of issues that can be included to agenda.
